login to XP brings me back to login box...

Ok, this is big (for me) Windows XP, left it on last
night, now in the AM, I log in (old 2000 style enter user
name and password, not the XP style "click on user name")
No password.

The login looks normal when ALL OF A SUDDEN! it returns to
the "Log On to Windows" screen. "enter your user name and
password"

It does this with the administrator account too. HOWEVER,
it for some reasonalso has a Netware server login script
thing. This PC has never been attached to a Novell server
nor has it been setup to do so.

HELP what can I do? I've never seen nor heard of this
before.

I can't get into safe mode, it does the exact same
thing. "Restore last settings that worked" doesn't work
either.

Help?

UPDATE:

After hitting enter to login, I see "loading personal
settings" then "Logging off"

then back to the login screen.
