Login Server problem

We have a AD environment and when we joined we upgraded our NT4 PDC to W2k.
We have since added a new server at this site to take over from this old PDC
but cannot get the new server to authenticate logins when the old server is
taken off line. We have transferred all Operation Master roles to the new
server but still no joy. I wonder if anyone can tell me what I am missing. I
am assuming it's something to do with the Global Catalog as we do not have a
server set with GC at this site. Any info' would be greatly appreciated.

What error do the clients receive when they attempt to logon? You should
run mpsreports on the DC to verify that it is healthy. You can download
this tool from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd915706/MPSRPT_DirSvc.EXE .
Run the report and review the dcdiag and netdiag reports for errors. If
there are errors then you should post them in the group. You should also
review the other output for errors.
