login prompts - spyware?

This has been posted as a reply, but I'm not sure if they
are looked at, so I'm posing it as new.

I have symptom that seems to be spyware --
When I open certain pages (normal pages like Netscape) I
get a login prompt with a password. Of course, I don't
furnish one, finally get to the page but with a header
that says: "Not Authorized to view this site"...

any suggestions about this?

run spybot from safer-networking.org and update and scan
on easy or
free antivirus at grisoft.com in downloads
