Hello,
I've recently installed an academic version of 2000
professional on my home pc to test with. It had been
working fine until I attempted to share my printer with a
wireless connection. I can't retrace my steps except for
the fact that I used a wizard. It restarted. Now its
asking for a password. I never set up a password. My
login dialog is Username: Administrator Password: I can't
get beyond that. I never setup a password. Normally
during bootup a login dialog box would say "setting up
network" then "Login... Username: Administrator
Password:" and Windows 2000 would begin. I really need
some help short of having to reinstall Windows 2000.

When you installed Windows 2000, it asked you for a password to apply for
the default Administrator account. That password should get you in.

You might try to reset the local Administrator
password with one of the methods mentioned here:

I normally avoid using passwords at all, because I want
my family to have free access to the family computer. I
just hit return at the password prompts. I've tried all
the passwords I've used with other logins in the past and
none have worked yet.
Thanks
