Click Start / Run, then type this:
control userpasswords2 {OK}

Now select the preferred user name, then untick the
box "Users must enter a password". You will be
prompted for the password for the selected user name.

Tried that still have to click user. He had it so that itjust started no user
selection Please try something else

Your reply is irrelevant to my suggestion. You'll have
to try it for yourself!

If I may offer an aside, Mike, your 'moniker" reminds me of
two friends I've had. One in high school, one in college
(Pepperdine U). They were both named "Jimmy James". Not
"James James", with a nickname of "Jimmy." Both were named
"Jimmy James."

Funny! In high school, our class (I'd known Jimmy since like
4th grade) got a teacher one year who was new to the area
and who didn't know Jimmy. When she called the roll, she
corrected his name. 'I'm going to fix this. It's obviously
wrong. Your name is-- of course-- "James James." We won't
use nicknames in this class!"

He laughed, "You can use my formal name; it's Jimmy James!"

We were all cracking up.

Like the actor "Jimmy Smits". His name is NOT "James Smits."
It's "Jimmy Smits."

Good luck!

Sorry for the side line I was answering another responce and pasted the wrong
one. Any way I tried your sugestion and I dont need password BUT back to the
original It use to be that when I start my computer It would go through all
the startup stuff and go to my desktop I did not have to sign on or select
anything, I would turn it on go get a cup of coffey com back and there was my
desktop. Now I have to wate and select a user. My husband said it was a
setting that I need to changenbut could not tell me with out being hear. He
thought it was MS windows family but wasnot sure. Again sorry for that error

THANK you another post pointed out that when I went to the site you suggested
I hade to UN CHECK user required to us password IT WORKED Thank you

This is fascinating. I wrote "UNTICK the check box", and
from your response I gather that you ticked it. I'm not
surprised that it did not work for you . . .
