login info from ie screen

We have windows 2003 standart server and iis 6 is running on it. Windows 2003
has some users and when they try to login to server to work on their shared
folder, they have access denied error.

I checked the Sessions on the server and noticed that user is connected as
intranet userid that is different than her actual windows userid. We have
intranet on our web site and server picks up intranet userid, which is
entered through internet explorer screen to see specific pages, instead of
windows userid from this specific client machine.

How can I fix this problem?

thanks for any help

Suggest you post to the Windows Server newsgroup, as this doesn't sound like an FP issue.

The ID that you're seeing in your logs is the machine name associated with the workgroup
that the machine is assigned to in Network properties.

You'll never see the "Windows" username delivered via Internet Explorer.

When I check the Computer Management ->Shared folders -> Sessions screen, it
displays the active users who connected to server. User name should be
windows userid from the client machine, but it displays another userid that
is created for intranet account, for the same client workstation. Same user
tried on the different machine, and everything was normal. Problem is related
to specific client workstations, who signed intranet with intranet userid and
try to work on their shared folders with windows networking.

As if there is miscommunication between client and windows 2003 server. We
have firewall in the building and server and clients are behind the firewall.
On the sessions screen computers external ip was displayed instead of
computer name.

I know this group is not windows group, and asked same question but have not
gotten repsonse yet.

thanks for help
