Login Authentication Slow

We have a remote site that has a very low bandwidth link, and so it takes
quite a while for the users there to authenticate to the DC located at the
main office.

Is there a way to speed up the login process other than placing a DC at the
remote office?

Probably not, though it might help if you provided details such as actions
taken at logon, remote drives in use, offline/synchronized files, etc, etc
....
