I use xp home edition with all latest updates. I use the classic logon prompt
for extra security but every time i start the computer it displays the last
user in the user logon entry. How do i make it so it is always blank??
Ive had a search around in 'administrator settings' but i cant find anything
in there. Can anyone describe me through it ??? Maybe in an email because i
can never find my way back to the same part of the microsoft site. Thanks.

I always recommend backing up first!
http://www.freecomputerconsultant.com/computer-backup.html

Open your registry and find the key for your Windows version below.

Windows 2000 or XP
Open
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

create a new string value, or modify the existing value, called
"DontDisplayLastUserName" and set it to "1" to enable or "0" to disable
the restriction.

Restart Windows for the change to take effect.

If you can't find a post search for it using Google Groups Advanced Search.
Search for your name as author. This newsgroup is
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.

Better yet, use a newsreader to access what are actually Usenet newsgroups,
instead of the awful web interface. XP comes with Outlook Express, though
there are a variety of newsreaders to suite your taste. Here is a link with
info on setting up OE for newsgroups access.
