xp startup

When I start XP it comes up to the logon screen and when I click to

login it starts logging in then logs off. I have tried it with the
administrator also.

I have tried safe mode and every other mode with no luck......I can't seem to
get around the logon screen.....

Yesterday I experienced this on a laptop that I was attempting to connect to
my wireless network at home. I have the same symtoms that Jeff explained. I
do not have this laptop on anetwork similar to the explanation given in the
website you referred to. is there anyway i can correct this issue without
the laptop being on a network?

Without access to the hard drive, no. But no one said it has to be
connected wirelessly.
