i am running xp pro,fully updated.my question is three fold. when i switch
my computer on, i get to my desktop without any further input from me. here
is my question. my friend switches on and he gets to a screen with two user
names. his own and his daughters. he then has to chose his own. his daughter
no longer uses his machine so
1.how does he get to the desktop from booting up without any input from him
2.how does he delete his daughters account.3 if he does delete his daughters
account,does any thing she saved,documents,music photo's etc get deleted
also. he is running xp pro fully updated. i am fairly knowledgable about
computers so i said i will help him. i would appreciate any help from the
ng.

Should have administrative privilidges to run the following tasks:

Step 1
====
1. Tell him to log to his account.
2. Click Start - Run - type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 and press Enter key.
3. If "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" is
already unchecked then make a check mark and select the user which he want to
auto logon with (in this case, his account).
4. Uncheck the box "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer" and click. Then he will be asked to enter password. Fill the
password, if any otherwise leave it blank.
5. Restart the computer to see the changes.

Step 2
====
All the data of his daughter's account will lost if he will try to delete
her account. However, Windows will ask if he wants to "Keep the files" and
only want to remove the account but it is not recommanded. Tell him to first
backup all the data from her daughter's account to a folder on C Drive or to
any another drive. He should backup data from "My Documents", "Desktop
Folders (if any)", "Internet Favorites" and any specific application data
like "Outlook Express". He should ask her daughter about all the stuff in her
account. I will also advise you to follow the Step 2 first then Step 1 and
Step 3.

Step 3
====
The users can be deleted through:

1. Click Start - Control Panel - User Accounts
2. Click the User Name you wish to delete then click "Delete the account"

Hope this help, let us know!
