Logging on locally on a DC

Is it possible to logon as the local administrator on a computer that's a
Domain Controller? I don't seem to have the option to logon locally; my
only option is to logon to the domain... any way to get around this? Thanks

There is no local logon on DC's. It has always been like this. The only
accounts that are on this machine are domain accounts. The real questions is
what are you trying to do and why do you need to do this?

A domain controller has no local accounts database, hence there would be no
local logon.

The closest thing you have to a local Administrator account on a domain
controller is the Directory Services Restore Mode account. The account is
created when the server is promoted to become a domain controller and you
are prompted to supply a password then, so the password can be different
from the original Administrator account password.

Directory Services Restore Mode is somewhat similar to Safe Mode and is used
to restore System State on domain controllers. You can access it like you
would Safe Mode, by pressing the F8 key when the system begins to boot.

Isn't there a setting that you can make in Group policy to allow local
logon? It is the local logon setting. Give that a try.
