Logging off and on as another user

Hello everyone

I'm using XP Home. I have a 2.4 Gig machine wiht 128MB
memory.
Can someone please tell me why, when I log off as one user
and then try to log on as another user, the computer gives
a memory dump. After powering off and on again it's fine.
Well fine as in it comes back up. The systme does seem to
ba bit of a dog though, but that's another story.

You don't have enough memory to run XP pleasantly. Increase to at least
256MB or even 512MB. That's the first part. The second part is that you
may have too many programs and processes running in the background. It
isn't possible to give you more specific advice with the information
you supplied. Here are my generic Windows troubleshooting steps to
first try:

1) scan with current antivirus ("current" means a version not earlier
than 2002 but using updated virus definitions); 2) remove spyware with
Spybot Search & Destroy (www.security.kolla.de) and Ad-aware
(www.lavasoftusa.com). Be sure to update these programs before running,
and it is a good idea to do virus/spyware scans in Safe Mode; 3) delete
temporary and Temporary Internet Files; 4) stop unnecessary services
programs from starting with Windows - see www.blackviper.com for
services info and www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm for programs
info - 5) look in Event Viewer for clues.

After you've done the general cleanup as above, did that help? If not,
please repost and be sure to tell us what you've already done.
