Logging NT into Win2K domain

We are having problems logging our Windows NT Workstation
SP6a PC into our windows 2000 domain. When you try to
join the domain it comes up with unable to contact the
domain controller. I can ping the DC, Active Directory
Client is installed, the PC has a static IP address, it
has all the DNS settings in correctly. Is there something
else that we need to do?
