Logging into Multiple Domains

Scallica

Hello all,

In Windows NT/2K/XP, is it possible to log into a domain without joining the
workstation to that domain? I have a user account on a remote Domain, but I
do not have privileges to add workstations to the Domain. So, I must use
Win9x.

In Win9x, there is a Domain field in the login box. You could authenticate
to any Domain that you had an account on.

Thanks,
Scallica

No, you cannot. Windows 9x does not log onto a domain, at best and only if
forced to it matches the supplied username/password to the domain. By
logging onto your local PC with a username/password on the domain you can do
the same in NT/2K/XP.

Richard,

Thanks for the reply. When I log into a domain using Win 9x, the domain's
login script runs and maps network drives. Is it possible to run this login
script in Win NT? (without joining the computer to the domain)

Thanks,
Scallica

Nope, Windows NT is all or nothing. It either is a domain member or it is
not.
