Hey Folks,
I get a logon message that says "The system could not log you on. Make sure
Your User Name and Domain are Correct, then type your password again."
Someone please help. After I click O.K. to the message it shows the logon
box, and I have too re-enter my name and password. Any help from the MVP'S
will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mick

This means you've entered the wrong username or password. Login is case
sensitive so check to see caps lock is off. If that doesn't work login as
administrator and go to "user accounts" in control panel and retreive or
edit your username and password for that account.

Thanks for replying,
I have done that, changed name, I even left the account without a password
to troubleshoot the problem. And I rebooted and the same thing happens
again, with the old name and password, when I click O.K. to the logon
message, my old name is there but the password disappears. I have been using
computers and XP since XP came out, and use of computers for 15-20 yrs. I am
dumbfounded. Fortunately I had backed up my files and system state, a couple
of days before this problem occured. Last Night I did a repair according to
the KB and other mvp's tips and had to re-activate, it kept my settings, but
the Logon Message is still there.

Please Advise,
Helpless :)

If you've enabled "auditing of security events " you can have login problems
if the event log is full. Look at Event Viewer > Security - right click
for properties and under "log size" check overwrite as needed.

If that doesn't work try creating a new account and test the login. If it
works you can migrate your files and settings using "files and settings
transfer wizard."
