win 2k platform on 2000 server network will not log on to
network! Will boot normally when network cable is
unplugged, however, when pluged in the lan card shows
activity but the connection is constantly lost. Server
shows following error concerning this client computer;
event I.D. 8003, the computer in question is trying to
establish itself as the master browser to NetBT_Tcpip
forcing an election.

Haved scanned for sasser worm with negative results and am
running current anti-virus software. Network is protected
by hardware firewall.

ANY HELP OR IDEAS WOULD BE APPRECIATED......

Unrelated issues. For the Windows NT machines

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters

Set all but the pc designated as browse master to

MaintainServerList = "Auto"
IsDomainMaster = "False"

On the win9x machines, Control Panel|Network, then on the "Protocols" tab
scroll down to "File and Printer sharing for Microsoft Networks, then
"Properties", then for the "Browse Master" property, choose "Disabled"

and you'll have no more elections.
