I have a problem with one computer on my network
generating the following error message:

Source: MRxSmb
Event ID: 8003
Description:
The master browser has received a server announcement from
the computer "computer name" that believes that it is the
master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_
{11E860FF-6FB0-41E3-9. The master browser is stopping or
an election is being forced.

My network does not span over multiple subnets as
suggested in some of the MS Knowledge base articles and
only one out of 20 computers is generating the error
message.

Any ideas what might be causing this error?

If the problem child is an XP box it may be that the built
in Firewall is on and preventing browsing.
If that's not it... Do you run DHCP? That box may have a
static IP. add it to you dhcp pool and "ipconfig /release"
then "ipconfig /renew" the box.

Casey
