Hi all
just recently my log on password box for xp prof oppears as if a password
has already been entered for me, the number of digits entered is also random.
if I press enter it comes up with "did I forget my password?" then i can
enter my usual password and log on.
The other strange thing that happens is I have dual boot ME and XP but the
countdown timer for the default system doesnt appear and i have to choose
which system i want to use.
Both these things have started at the same time, I have done a virus scan
but it come back clean, and checked boot.ini to see if that has changed but
seems ok.
Can anyone shed any light on for me?

Try inserting the lines

timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS

in your boot.ini file, above the [operating systems] line

The multi, disk, rdisk and partition values may have to be changed,
depending on the values
in your [operating systems] entries.

Hi
I have just checked the boot .ini file and apart from the time out being set
to 10 seconds (my setting) every thing is as it should be.
