Log-on long delay

My laptop runs Windows XP Home Edition Ver.2002 with
Pentium 4 2.66GHz and 512 RAM. It has never had any
problem until about two days ago, and I had not done
anything to the laptop other than checking my emails for
the past weeks. Logging on after booting the computer
become extremely slow. It would takes about 3-4 minutes
before desktop shows up followed by the "window intro
sound effect". Could the long log-on delay relate to
expiration of NAV files of Norton Antivirus on Jan 7,
2004 which several articles in the newsgroups have
mentioned earlier or could this be entirely different
issue? How to go about it? Thanks for any help.

Thanks Gerry for the link! I've tried unchecking the publisher's certificate revocation as directed, but the problem remains. Maybe it is not related to expiration of NAV files of Norton Antivirus. Anybody with any other solutions? Thanks!

My computer has the same problem. It only started happening when I created another user account on the computer and then it started becoming slow. Perhaps this will help, did this happen directly after something you did or happens all the time?
