Log-on issues

Hi,

I have two log-on issues that I hope someone can help me with. Ok. here goes:

1. When I installed windows xp profesional I did not create a user account for "administrator" when it asked me to create users. Now I find that I need to log-on as the administrator and I don't know how to do it. "Administrator" does not show up on my log-on screen. I can't create it because, when I go into the control panel and work with the users, it tells me that there already is one. My own user log-on does have administrative privileges but I find that there are still things I need to do (partition related) that I need to actually be logged on as the administrator to do. Would someone please tell me the alternative way to log-on as the administrator or how to get back to the "Log on to Windows" box at start-up.

2. I created user accounts for two children. When I remove them from the administrative group and make them anything else, their names get dropped from the log-on screen and they can't log-on. I had to return their level to administrative just to have them show up on the log-on screen. How do I set their level at something other than administrative and keep their names showing up at the log-on.

Thank you in advance if you can help me. I only just started with xp and I don't know much about it yet.

Gratefully,
Angie

#1 boot to safe mode ...you should see the administrators logon

#2 go to control panel > user accounts ...click on a user and (if you have
administrative priv.) you change change account "type"

hope that helps
