Pls help... How do I by-pass the logon/ user account
screen? I tried to disble via user accounts but reverts to
old log on screen. I want the computer to go directly to
desktop from startup. It did this before but obviously in
one of the "upgrades" this "feature" has been installed.
I would really appreciate some help. Thanks

Get TweakUI from Microsoft. Install it. Look under the Logon section,
"autoLogon" to be exact.

Terry,

First, revert back the setting (Turn ON the welcome screen). Turning off the Welcome Screen also means that Fast User Switching is not available. To automatically login XP, follow these steps:

Click Start, Run and type "control userpasswords2", and click Ok. Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" option, and click Ok.
