Log on as Administrator

Mike

Once again, I'm receivng numerous messages that tell me I'm not logged on to
my computer as the Administrator. The message says the installer requires
the user to be logged on as Administrator and that I'm supposed to do this.
This problem reoccurred several days ago and this message pops up every 5
minutes or so.

Additionally, it affects outgoing mail as well by either not sending it
immediately or delaying sending it.

I'm the only person using this computer. I am using Windows Vista anmd this
happened a lot for a while, then stopped, then started agin. but this time it
seems to have returned with a vengance.

Thanks,

Installer for what? Windows Mail does not use an installer.
The newsgroup to which you posted is dedicated to supporting the
Windows Mail program. Problems with an installer should be referred
to the general Vista newsgroup.

Do you get an error message when you try to send mail? If so,
right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.

Here's the message I'm getting. And when I send an email, and error message
does popup, but the email is eventually sent. I tried to Copy the message
but it won't copy. Here's the text, verbatim: "You are not currently logged
into your computer as an Administrator. This installer requires that the
user be logged in as Administrator. Please log out and log back in as an
Administrator, and then restart the installer." In the upper left corner of
the window it says "Powered by SupportSoft".

Thanks

Thanks, Sinner, that article has the appropriate information.

@Mike: To avoid this type of problem, never install software from your
ISP. Always set up your ISP connection manually.
Go to Control Panel, Add and Remove Programs, look for a program that
has SupportSoft in its name. Uninstall it.

The only thing that I can find is this: Dell Support Center (Support Software)
and nothing else. My ISP is Roadrunner through Time-=Warner.

I just spent over an hour with Roadrunner support and they said it is a
Microsoft problem. I did a screen grab of the error message and would post
it here, but it apparently isn't allowed, which is understandable. If there
is a way I can send it to you please advise. Thanks for the help.

The problem is caused by that SupportSoft software.
Microsoft did not install the SupportSoft program, you or RoadRunner did.
You can post that screenshot here, then give us the URL link:

I spent over an hour tonight with Roadrunner support trying to figure this
out. After exhausting every thing they could think of I was told to contact
Microsoft again. I have done a screen grab of the error message and can
email it. Thanks for the help.

As I continue to work on this, I see that the message from SupportSof
referred to earliler is gone. I removed RoadRunner Medic and that may have
ended that problem. Yet I continue to get the following message when I send
email:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Smoltz
regains his identity with Cardinals', Account: 'pop-server.kc.rr.com',
Server: 'smtp-server.kc.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550
Invalid recipient: <[email protected]>', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Thanks for any help.

The error indicates that the email address that you are attempting to send
to is not valid.
Go to the Outbox and move that and any other messages that are in there, to
the Drafts folder, right click the message>move to>choose Drafts.
Now attempt to send a test message to yourself, please copy and paste any
error message back here.

Good work! You found and removed the troublesome ISP software
that was causing the SupportSoft error message.

Your remaining error message is rather straightforward.
I have verified that the email address (e-mail address removed) does not
exist. You should have no trouble sending to other (valid) email
addresses.
