Log off only option on shut down.

We have a Windows 2003 domain here with mainly XP & 2000 clients.
I have a WSUS server distributing windows updates.
I deployed some updates at the start of the week & since then, the shut down
option is not available to users.
To shut the PC down they must log off first & then shut down.

The updates that I deployed are all OK & there are no known issues with any
of them.. This issue is affecting both XP & 2000 clients. I'm not too sure
what the problem could be... can anyone help?

Does this have anything to do with .NET Framework? You are in wrong NG for
this question.

With that said, a domain/local group policy could dictate whether regular
user can shut down his computer or not. It is possible the setting up WSUS
modified the group policy so that user would not shut down computer when
leaving from, thus the scheduled update could applied. So, examine the group
policy that applies to the said users.
