Log in with specific user problem

I have a problem where when I log in with one particular user, the icons come
up, but none of the system stuff in the lower right appears. If I log in as
somone else, logout and come in as this user it works. Any ideas?
 
When you have problems such as this, it is wise to copy all personal
data somewher else and then to delete that troublesome account. It is
likley it is corrupted.

Then you can always recreate the account with everything working
normally. You can then copy back all personal data in MyDocuments
folder.

You have to be sure that you don't copy settings from the old account
otherwise you will have the same problem all over again.
