My computer is automatically logging in a user that isn't here anymore.

Windows screen comes up, username and password are greyed out with the old
users info, and the pc proceeds to log on.

I've tried deleting user from User Accounts in Control Panel and setting it
so that the user is required to choose his/her name from the list, but then
pc locks up because the original user is still being logged in automatically.
I imagine maybe its a setting in the registry, but not sure where to go for
this.

Does any of this make sense? HELP!

Have you tried to this

start>run and type

control userpasswords2

then you can check off "User must enter a user name and password to use this
computer."

You can also delete his account from here, and create a new one if you wish.

Good Luck
