Locking up

I am having some serioud issues with my system locking
up. It is getting more frequent seemingly by the day. It
locked uo three times on me in the last 30 minnutes. When
it lockes up you can't do anything not even "controol/
alt/ delete, you have to power the system down and
restart. I am running XP home addition on a Commpaq
presario700 series. Can anyone help?

Sounds like something is seriously overheating. Run with the case open,
observing all fans. Feel how hot things are inside the case (without
touching the components, please). Look in XP's Event Viewer for clude,
but I expect this is going to be a hardware issue.
