Locking The Registry

Is there any way to lock the Registry so that no changes
can be made? My son (and his friends) were able to tweak
the registry so that IE would ignore Content Advisor.
After reloading CA, I was able to get it working properly
again. However, somehow my son was able to bypass CA -
this time, however, CA was working properly when I
returned to the computer. He was not logged in as an
administrator (I have the password for the only User
Account with administrative privledges, so I thought he
would not be able to disable CA.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Dan

Don't make it a "Battle of Wits". With Content Advisor on,
you moved your rook first. Naturally, Kids love an authority
challenge. No matter what you put in place, there is a hack
somewhere to bypass it. Just tell them, you can monitor all
their activity on the PC (Whether you can or not). That may
help keep them in check.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured. I've already
told him I could monitor his usage (he would clear bad
stuff out of the history but neglected to clear the
temporary internet files - go figure!) Since he still
couldn't seem to resist the temptation, I had to password
protect the DSL connection. He'll get no internet without
direct supervision. I just wish there was a way to allow
him to browse the good side of the internet without me
standing over his shoulder!

Thanks for your help,

Dan

Dan,

Reality would dictate that every procedure you invoke to
restrict your children in some way will induce behavior
in them to rebel and oppose your actions.

There is 3rd party software that may assist you in your
quest to monitor your son's web surfing. One such
package is Net Nanny. To learn about it, do a google
search for Net Nanny.

Best of Luck.

Also Norton Internet Security 2003 or 4 works well plus firewall your
PC too.
