Is there a group policy to lock out the system tray so users can't right
click any items in the systray? I am unable to find one and I heard that it
exists. What other ways are there to lock out the systray?

There are a couple of options depending on the client O/S.

Group Policy at
User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Start Menu and Taskbar
Remove access to the context menus for the taskbar At least Microsoft Windows 2000 is required.
Hides the menus that appear when you right-click the taskbar and items on the taskbar,
such as the Start button, the clock, and the taskbar buttons.
This setting does not prevent users from using other methods to issue the commands that appear on these menus."""

Tip 50 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoTrayContextMenu

And for Windows XP, http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBR/tip8600/rh8624.htm

It works for the clock but it does not seem to be working for the programs
running in the system tray. Any ideas?

Tell us what O/S and service pack.

Tell us exactly what you did.

I tested it with two 2003 servers. One is the domain controller and the
other is just a member server. On the domain controller and enabled the
group policy that you mentioned before. I then went to the member server
and ran gpudate from the run prompt. I waited for the policy to refresh
then i right clicked on the taskbar and the clock and no menu came up, but
when I right click on programs running in the systray like norton ghost the
right click options menu comes up. I really want to lock out the ability to
right click on any running program.
