Locking controls in place in Design View

I seem to recall from using Visual Basic years ago that when designing
forms, controls could be "locked" into place so that they couldn't be moved
from their positions unless the form was "unlocked". This would be very
helpful in Access 2000 which I'm using because I'm always accidently moving
controls when selecting them for other reasons.

Is there a way to do this with Access 2000?

No.
I could imagine a 3rd party control offering this feature, but there
is nothing built-in that can do that.

John,
I'm not aware of any way to do that, from within Access.

You could try a web search for some third party software to do
that, but it will very difficult.
If you search on something like "Lock" "Controls"... you'll probably
get a thousand hits pertaining to... "Enabling/Disabling" a control.
