locking cell width

Alright, well, when inserting text into a cell of a table, the width of the
cell shifts along with the length of the text, how do you lock the width of
the cell so it doesn't happen? I've played with the cell properties, and
nothing seemed to work

You must have content in any adjacent cells. Cell width value are only minimum width values.
