"Locked" out of DVD-RW & CD-RW

I use the RW's to try music, my pics, etc., first, and then save to the DVD-R
or music to CD-R.
When trying to re-use these, even after "erasing" I can't get anything to
write to the RW's, and when checking the properties, it shows "CLOSED" even
though the same properties,for example, shows 40% used and 60% not used.

I have tried erasing with Nero ...

Regular erasing doesn't clear the '"CLOSED"

You cannot erase, add, delete a "closed" CD-R. If you had created a
formatted CD-RW (packet writing) using Nero or Roxio, you can add,
change, and/or delete on a CD-RW but are not recommended for music.
Creating music CD's that are closed cannot be added to or erased.

Hey Byte --- thanks for for picking up on my question

Yes, I was referring to the CD-RW's and DVD-RW's. I know the CD-R's and the
DVD-R's are
"inscribed for eternity" .. lol ...
That's why I try them first of the RW's, and if they turn out okay, then I
burn a copy of the RW discs. Then to erase them and have them ready to use
for the next trial.

I know after a particular expanse of time by doing this, the RW;s will play
out, but even on new RW's, after using them, and "erase" them, the poperties
show an empty disc, but it also shows "closed", and I'm locked out of using
them again.

By the way, I did find my way to that Summary letter, but after following its
procedure, I don't end up getting what they show .. the choices they give
don't appear on my course.
