Locked out from transferred excel files

I've copied some excel 2003 files from my old PC onto my new laptop with
excel 2007 on it. I seem to be locked out from doing anything on the
'spreadsheets'. I can't type in new data, use the ribbon or the office
button. As a result I can't use any of the solutions I've found in the help
section. Any ideas?

That should not happen...

Close and start Excel.
Open your file.
Try to edit. Does it allow you to edit?
Do you get any messages while Excel starts or file opens?

Try Office button|Save As and use a new name. Can you do that? If yes, then
can you edit the new file...?

Can you send one of those files to me?

I can't edit nor can I 'save as'. The only bit which I can highlight in that
section is 'save as-find add ins for other file formats' and I'm not sure
what that would do! There are no messages when I open the file, or any of the
other excel files I have copied across and which all seem to have the same
problem. How do I send a file to you to look at?

have you activated your new "Office 2007"? Or is it perhaps an expired
Trial version?
