I recently installed a copy of XP Professional on my computer. I then
created two user accounts, "alpha" and "beta", with the former having
full privileges and the latter being a limited user. So now the
computer has a total of three users, including the Administrator.
The problem is that I accidentally denied alpha from having any access
to the HKLM hive and it's child objects, other than simple read and
enumerate queries. Alpha, has essentially become a "vegetable" - it
cannot launch mmc.exe (and thus cannot edit the local security
policies, etc), or do anything to give itself full permission back to
HKLM.
On top of all this, my brother has disabled the Administrator account
(ie, deny it from logging in). Can anyone suggest a solution to this
mess, other than reformatting and reinstalling?
