Locked Lines

I have a grid of lines that can't be moved, cut or deleted or formatted.
Clicking on a line and dragging it only creates a copy that can be deleted or
cut but the original is locked. It can't be deleted, cut, moved or formatted.
(never had this happen before) any ideas as to the problem?

Dear Evan,

Right click on the slide background (not an image or text box) and choose
Grids and Guides. Uncheck Grid Settings and Guide Settings.
