lock-up during install

Have PC that has run for a year with W2K. Started locking
up when booting... I am reinstalling W2k, have
partitioned the hard drive, then I get an error message...

More than likely some hardware failure

do a RAM test

also try an installation with minimal hardware

I replaced the RAM,, old ram works fine in another PC
