Lock-up/Crash

Bad problem. Frequently, usually while browsing internet, my computer locks up (cursor stuck, nothing moving, hdd light off on case) and NOTHING works (esc, ctl-alt-del, break). Have to power down and restart. I tried a clean install of xp home, still same problem. Downloaded newest version of directx, all my drivers, etc. Any hints?

Bad problem. Frequently, usually while browsing internet, my computer
locks up (cursor stuck, nothing moving, hdd light off on case) and
NOTHING works (esc, ctl-alt-del, break). Have to power down and
restart. I tried a clean install of xp home, still same problem.
Downloaded newest version of directx, all my drivers, etc. Any hints?
(snipped totally unnecessary dxdiag log)

This probably has nothing to do with Direct X, so while including the
log was well-intentioned, it doesn't give us any usable information
with which to help you. Your problem could be caused by a virus,
spyware, or even a failing power supply or system overheating. However,
I think the best place to start is with these troubleshooting steps:

1) Scan with current antivirus ("current" means a version not earlier
than 2002 but using updated virus definitions); and 2) remove spyware
with Spybot Search & Destroy (www.security.kolla.de) and Ad-aware
(www.lavasoftusa.com). Be sure to update these programs before running,
and it is a good idea to do virus/spyware scans in Safe Mode. Then
delete your temporary and Temporary Internet Files. When you know the
computer is clean, if the problem still persists, please repost
including some information about your system such as processor and RAM
specs, whether the machine is overclocked, how you connect to the
Internet, what type of antivirus program you used and the results, and
what you've already done to troubleshoot the problem.

Cheers,

Malke
