Where does the show desktop icon reside in the system? I
used Search > Files and Folders to locate the Show
Desktop icon and while attempting to put it on the
taskbar and ended up leaving it on the desktop. I don't
want to leave it on the desktop and the manufacturer's
tech rep, whom I asked while inquiring about an issue
with a touchpad driver, did not know the location and
advised against putting it on the C drive without knowing
for sure; corrupted software is a pain. I just want to
put this guy in his original home without messing
anything up. Also, if anyone can tell me how to get the
icon on the taskbar I'd really appreciate it. I unlocked
it but couldn't drag the icon onto it. Your help is
greatly appreciated.

Right-click on your Taskbar and select:
Toolbars > Quick Launch
The "Show Desktop" icon will appear on the left
side of the Taskbar.

Thanks much, that got it. Any idea in which folder the
original icon goes for Microsoft XP Home? It is on the
desktop now because I mistakenly draged it out of its
original folder and it belongs in a system folder
somewhere; I think C/1386. If so, do you happen to know
if just C/1386, or a folder in C/1386? Much appreciated,
Greg

I right clicked on my Show Desktop icon in the Quick Launch and then clicked on Properties -

On the General tab, the location was shown as:

C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
