Local Workgroup is not accessible

I am having to re-setup one of my networked PC's - each use XP. I want to be
able to share fiels and printers. I have allocated the IP addr range in each
firewall to be Trusted and used Network setup to create worksgroups. On my
master PC (he one not being re-setup), whilst I can see the new workgroup I
cannot access it. It says workgroup "is Not accessible" saying I need access
permissions-- I cannot even see the master PC itself. Exactly the same
process on the other PC works.

What is the issue here?? Thanks for any help

Two things:
Can you contact the other computer(s) using the run command and typing
\\computername or \\ip_address

When you set up the computer using the network wizard, which setting did you
use when it talks about how do you connect to the internet(eg through a
gateway or a hub etc).

Probably a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or other security
component. There are several other possibilities too, and any might be the cause
of your problem. Read this article with an open mind.

Or look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net
config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this
article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):

Hi

Since my post I can now "see" both PC's under "network places" and can
access each PC from itself -- but cannot access the other PC.

I have both Pinged and run \\ip_addr -- Ping - timed out \\ip_addr
returned "No network path has been found". I also disabled the firewall on
the PC I was trying to access

FYI -- When I setup the workgroup I used connect thru existing connection
