Workgroup is not accessible...

I have installed WinXP Pro on my home pc. Ran the network wizard to setup
workgroup. When I tried to access the PC from My Network Places -> Entire
Network -> Microsoft Windows Network ->Workgroup, I got the following error
"Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you
have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not
currently available."

Any Help ...!

Ravi,

One of the most common problems here would be a misconfigured or overlooked
personal firewall, or other security component. There are several other
possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article
with an open mind.

Why not provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from the problem computer,
and from 1 or 2 of the previous computers, so we can diagnose the problem. Read
this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are of any help. What you learn
may help others in the future, and that's the purpose of these forums.

Did you reboot after running the Wizard?

Are the other PCs in the house using Workgroup as the workgroup name?

Hello, Have same problem different setup.
Crossover cable two units non-internet, Windows XP Home SP2.
Read several post from different groups from posters with the same type of
problem, several different setups' were listed.
One suggested that it may be a registry problem. Don't know.
Please post if you come across or devise a solution.
Thank You.
take care.

Hello Beamish,

You'll be doing yourself, and else everybody here, if you'd start a new thread,
with a unique and descriptive subject. Let's solve one problem / one thread.
