local special permission in XP pro

Mike Robertson

Hello,

I am trying to setup local permissions for a user to have
read, and execute access on all folders except for a
certain folder in which they need read, write, execute,
modify to run a program. They must also not be able to
delete any files from this directory. Here is what I have
accomplished so far:
-created user and made a member of the local users group
-right clicked on folder that they need special permission
on and cleared "inheriet rights" and remove permissions.
-reassinged permission as follows, added admin, full
rights, myself full rights, system full rights, and the
user account checked all advanced options except "delete"
and "delete subfolders and files"

When I log on as this account they cannot create or save
any files in the folder that they need write access to.

Hopefully this is clear enough for someone to help out.
Thanks in advance for any resposes.

ok...umm. Under the securty options for the user, don't
give them full control, just give them modify,
read/execute, and write.

Advaced options, under the effective permissions: select
the user name then, check the following: Traverse
Folder/Execute File, List Folder/Read Data, Create
Files/Write Data, Create Folders/Append Data.

That should do it. If that doesn't work, then I don't
know why those permissions aren't sticking.

Hope this helps.
