1. I simply want to network my windows XP pro laptop with my old windows NT
PC. Is this possible, anybody out there?
2. When using the network set up wizard & trying to make a network set up
disc, I get the message that I dont have a removeable media, although C/D
burner is present. Will it only record on an old fashioned floppy?

Just finish the wizard and set up the network on NT manually. Your XP
Pro box is already set up from the Network Setup Wizard. Here are a few
caveats:

When you run the Network Setup Wizard, making sure to enable File &
Printer Sharing, the only "gotcha" is that this will turn on the XPSP2
Windows Firewall. If you aren't running a third-party firewall or have
an antivirus with "Internet Worm Protection" (like Norton 2005/06)
which acts as a firewall, then you're fine. If you have third-party
firewall software, configure it to allow the Local Area Network traffic
as trusted. I usually do this with my firewalls with an IP range. Ex.
would be 192.168.1.0-192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your
correct subnet.

On the XP Pro box disable Simple Sharing from Folder Options>View.

On the NT box make sure your firewall is configured as above. Create
identical user accounts/passwords on both machines. Share out resources
as desired.

Hi Parks,

1. Yes. We're all out here.
2. Netsetup.exe, which is the magic ingredient in the setup disc, is for
Windows 98 / ME. If you want to try it, copy it manually to the CD. Or setup
the NT computer manually (which is just as simple).
