Local groups and users after AD install

I ran dcpromo to add a DC to my domain and in doing so it
did not convert all the local users and groups to domain
users and groups. Am I missing something? I expected
them all to be upgraded but it did not happen. Any ideas
what might have happened.

I am misunderstanding the process then. My understanding
was that when a server was made a DC that Local Groups and
Users were no longer available and would be transferred to
the domain and be available as Domain Local Groups. The
former users/groups that resided locally are gone, some
accounts got transferred into the domain. I did not move
them so have to assume DCpromo did. ?????

I didn't think dcpromo does this, but, I may be wrong. You're SOL unless you
dcpromo the box back down and restore the SAM from a backup to get the
groups/accounts back.
