Local Area Connection loses Static TCP/IP Settings

We have the following

Windows 2000 SP4 DC

When you set the tcpip satatic address, its ipconfig states its
correct, and not using dhcp

But when you go into the properties of the connection it states its
using dhcp, and drops the dns and wins server names?

Ive tried sp4, new nic, and new drivers. Different types etc.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Cheers

I am a little confused...

How are you setting the IP to static if not through the TCP/IP properties of
the NIC?
ipconfig /all will show you what IP you have and the WINs and DNS server IPs
that were obtained - even if you are set to DHCP.

Does this line appear in your ipconfig output:
" Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes"

(Just making sure we are on the same page)

It is odd.

I set the tcp properties via the settingsd page, come out, then when i
go back in its back to obtainautomatically.

Ive had to add a reservation to dhcp to ensure its assigned address
keeps being assigned to it.

in ipconfig /all it does say its dhcp enabled, but I cant change it in
the lan properties. v strange.

If I add the amnual details, it shows in ipconfig, as chnaged to the
settings I chose, and that its no longer dhcp enabled, but in then
when you open the lan properties, it reverts back to obtain
automatically !!!

Crazy

Also. If I change the ip manually, it shows as changed in ipconfig
/all, but when you go back into the properties its back to auto
config!
