Is there a way to make SUS automatically install updates
when the logged on user is a member of the local admin
group instead of showing the updates available on the
tray?
 
Have you tried talking to the SUS guys about this? I know
you can force the programs to be installed without user
intervention.

Maybe try posting in the SMS group(s).
