Local access only after reboot

Brand new Vista box with freshly installed home premium. Everthing seems
normal except that after a reboot the internet (broadband) connection must be
manually started using the "connect to" menu.

The tray icon shows "local access only". After establishing an internet
connection everything is fine until a reboot, then the process repeats.

I have installed Vista on 4 other machines but this is the first time this
problem has occurred. What do I need to adjust?

Hi Donna. Try this:

Click the "Manage wireless networks" link in the left pane of Network and
Sharing Center (in Control Panel). Right-click the broadband connection, and
then make sure the "Connect automatically when this network is in range"
checkbox is selected.

I don't have a broadband connection here to look at, but this is what I'm
seeing on my wireless connection. Let me know if that doesn't solve the
problem.

Thanks for posting!
Gloria

Thanks Gloria,
This is a desktop system with no wireless devices, I don't have that option
in the "network and sharing center".

I do remember a connect automatically option somewhere and I'm pretty sure
it was checked........I'm not finding my way back to that setting now to
verify it.
