Loading Windows settings

When I log in to my user account, enter my passcode,
press enter, it takes 15-20 minutes to load all of my
settings. I am barely using the resources of my pc, have
1g rame, a huge h.d. and it is a pentium 4, it just takes
forever to load up? What can I do?
