Live Time Updates on Looped Powerpoint SlideShow

I am setting up a promotional PowerPoint Slideslow to run in an office
reception area all day, hence the slides will loop continuously.

I would like to insert a slide (that reappears throughout the show) which
shows the date and current time. I have tried using the insert/date and time
feature, even checking the box which updates automatically, however the time
sticks at the time the presentation is started. This is not helpful as the
presentation is intended to run for long time periods.

Is it possible to insert the time in text format, or import a clock onto the
slide that continously updates, and displays the correct time on every
occasion the slide appears?

Yes, it's really misleading isn't it. A bit like the "background printing"
setting in powerpoint
