Live Messenger : what is the latest release ?

My problem with Live Messenger is that I never know what release is the
newest one available .
Not 1 MS site is showing this information - why is that ?

But I knew that after having download the latest version.
My problem is that I never know on beforehand what the latest version is.
Not 1 single MS-site tells me what the latest version is - I always have to
discover about it after the download. What a waste of bandwith !!!

You are kind of correct.
Occasionally for a major release MSN will make a clear statement about a new
version - but for the point releases occasionally messenger will throw a pop
up toast message telling you a newer version is available.
