I have a new Dell Inspiron with Live Messenger download in the start menu. I
have been unable to download Messenger from the link provided. I have tried
other download sites without luck. What is my problem? Windows Live Help is
useless, it does not explain my problem at all.

Does this have to do with Vista's myriad security issues?

My friend,

You have sent me back to the precise link my computer sends me to, in order
to download Messenger.

Everytime I do so, I get an error message.

Does someone else have a workable solution?

It would be helpful if you could tell us exactly
what the error message states.

An error occurred during the installation of assembly
"Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.163",type="win32,PublicKeyToken="ifc8b369a1e3b",processorArchitecture="x86"

After I close the installation because of the above notice, I get a a 1603
error message.

Is this enough for you to go on?
