I downloaded an .avi movie off the binary newsgroups. The
file was downloaded to a folder on my desktop. I wanted the
file in a different spot so I dragged it to the folder I had chosen.
The system made a copy of the file. Now I want to delete the
original from my desktop but when I try I get an error stating
that the file cannot be deleted because it is being used by
another user or program. I'm the only user on the system.
I am running XP pro SP1a, Norton AV 2003 and Zonealarm.
All software has the most recent updates. I tried a cold start
but that didn't help. I did a 3 finger salute and I have 4 apps
running but 41 processes. I'm guessing I need to manually
stop each process untill I can delete the file, right?
What if I started in safe mode? Would that be easier? Is
there a way to tell which user/process is using the file?
